John George Alexander Wilson born Jul-Sept 1888 in Londonderry City In 1911 they are in Londonderry living at Florence Street in Rosemount. He married Isabella Maria Irwin, born 1865 County Down, in Apr-June 1886 at Newry. If so he was born in County Londonderry in 1858. In 1901 George was retired and living at Duke Street Warrenpoint. Dr William Hamilton Caldwell was the coroner for the Londonderry County by 1901 and was also a J.P. Caldwell Coroner for Coleraine District during an inquest following Thomas’ death led to this conclusion. Thomas was buried in St Paul’s Articlave. His cause of death was listed as suicide by bullet wound through head. By the early 1890’s Articlave still had the main dispensary for the area.ĭies 26th January 1886 at Bogtown Castlerock which was the location of the police station. Population of Articlave in 1841 was 450 and in 1851 311, whereas Castlerock (Bogtown and Freehall Watson & Dunlop) was 86 and 74 respectively. A penny post office was established in Articlave between 18. In 1875 the building was vacated by police and earmarked as a dispensary by August 1875, although it appears the dispensary did not arrive until 1877. The building was owned by John Alexander. There was still a barracks in Articlave in 1865. It may have been an addition following the arrival of the railway in 1850’s. There is no mention of the station before 1865. The earliest valuation puts the police barracks as the property of Daniel McKeeman followed by John McKeeman.īy 1880 there is a John Woolsey connected to the building which included a garden. Rateable value was approximately £15 per annum.įrom the rates books the building was occupied at a stage by Mrs McIlroy and McKeown/McKean/McKane/McKeeman or similar.
